The school board is confident that Interim Director of Education Bill Tucker will share the work he is leading around accountability and transparency.
TVDSB - The Ministry of Education is going to take a look at the Thames Valley District School Board's finances.
The audit was announced on Saturday, with School Board Chair Beth Mai releasing the following statement:
"The Thames Valley District School Board is pleased that the Ministry of Education is willing to lend their support and conduct an audit of accounts. The Board has every confidence that Interim Director Bill Tucker will share the work that he is leading at the Board's direction around accountability and transparency to the community as we prioritize student achievement and well-being."
Tucker was appointed as the Interim Director of Education last week, Mark Fisher took a leave of absence from the position.
This was after the news broke that the school board spent over $38,000 to send a group of senior staff members to an overnight staff retreat in Toronto last month, even though the school board is experiencing a $7.6-million deficit. The trip included a two-night stay at the Mariott Hotel in downtown Toronto, which includes views inside Rogers Centre.
