Oxford County MPP Ernie Hardeman announced $1.4 million in additional funding to help support local long term care homes, struggling to get through the second wave of COVID-19.
WOODSTOCK - The Ontario Government has announced additional funding for local long term care homes in Oxford County.
This is a $1.4 million dollar investment to increase prevention and containment efforts in local long-term care homes according to MPP Ernie Hardeman.
“I’m pleased to see these funds coming to our long-term care homes in Oxford. The additional money is a welcome support for local efforts to protect our most vulnerable residents and those who care for them.”
Homes in Oxford receiving additional funding during the second wave include:
- Caressant Care Woodstock Nursing Home is receiving an additional $273,500, bringing the total prevention and containment support since the start of the pandemic to $729,900
- Maple Manor Nursing Home is receiving an additional $118,600, bringing the total prevention and containment support since the start of the pandemic to $496,600
- Secord Trails Care Community is receiving an additional $336,400, bringing the total prevention and containment support since the start of the pandemic to $916,400
- The Maples Home for Seniors is receiving an additional $35,600, bringing the total prevention and containment support since the start of the pandemic to $359,800
- Woodingford Lodge Ingersoll is receiving an additional $18,800, bringing the total prevention and containment support since the start of the pandemic to $225,400
- Woodingford Lodge Tillsonburg is receiving an additional $39,000, bringing the total prevention and containment support since the start of the pandemic to $245,600
- Woodingford Lodge Woodstock is receiving an additional $204,400, bringing the total prevention and containment support since the start of the pandemic to $587,400
- peopleCare Tavistock is receiving an additional $375,400, bringing the total prevention and containment support since the start of the pandemic to $744,400
The money will be used for the following measures:
- An immediate 24/7 health checkpoint to confirm staff and essential caregivers entering the building are properly screened for COVID-19 symptoms and potential exposure, and to continue screening residents on an ongoing basis to support early detection and containment of any new infections;
- Additional prevention and containment activities, such as hiring new staff to carry-out the added workload for essential services and/or to replace workers who are sick or in isolation;
- Cleaning, equipment, and operating supplies beyond typical levels for the home; and
- Implementing infection control measures based on clinical evidence, advice from a physician or other regulated health practitioners with expertise in infection control.
