Ontario is reporting the biggest single day increase of COVID-19 this month with 1,745 new cases and 1,296 recoveries.
ONTARIO - The Province of Ontario has confirmed 1,745 new cases of COVID-19 this morning, bringing the total number of cases in the Province to 325,254.
The Province confirmed another 10 COVID-19 related deaths this morning, bringing the total in Ontario to 7,212. Another 1,296 cases have been labelled resolved, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 304,789. The Province also confirmed 40 new variant cases today, this means we now have a total of 1,258 variants of concern confirmed in Ontario, most of them are the B.1.1.7 variant first discovered in the U.K.
The province completed 56,134 tests yesterday. We currently have 759 COVID-19 patients in the hospital with 309 people in the ICU and 176 in the ICU on a ventilator. Over half of the new cases today are coming from hot spot regions with 478 new cases in Toronto, 344 in Peel, 174 in York Region and 116 in Hamilton.
