The Oxford OPP posted a video on the OPP West Region Twitter page, educating the public about the Project Safe Trade program this Crime Prevention Week.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford OPP is looking to shine a light on Project Safe Trade this Crime Prevention Week.
In a video posted on the OPP West Region Twitter page, Constable Patti Cote gives us a rundown of the program.
"The whole idea behind the program is so that people conducting online transactions from platforms such as Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji have a safe place that they can come to and feel comfortable meeting a stranger."
Cote says they have two parking spaces available at the Tillsonburg OPP detachment, the Ingersoll OPP detachment, and the Norwich Fire Hall.
"We hope that by utilizing this space, it will deter criminal activity and avoid you from having strangers come to your residence. So the space is here, please use it!"
If you are buying something from a stranger online, Cote says it's best to meet in a public place instead of having them stop by your home.
