Oxford EMS say there are issues with people unprepared for the cold weather in the event of a car accident.
OXFORD COUNTY - Putting out Cold Weather Alerts early on is one way Oxford EMS has tried to avoid distress calls related to the cold weather.
This comes after a three year old from Toronto died after wandering from their home in the frigid cold.
Manager of Oxford County EMS, Joe Pember says they really haven't seen an increase in call volume locally related to the cold weather. "Where we are seeing some issues though are that people are out in the cold weather and they are travelling and they really are not prepared to be in the cold weather so when they get involved in minor accidents or their vehicle becomes disabled, all of the sudden they don't have the warmth of the vehicle anymore to protect them and they weren't prepared."
