Premier Doug Ford is set to make an announcement regarding the province's reopening plan this afternoon.
ONTARIO - We could know more about the Ford Government's new reopening plan later today.
Premier Doug Ford is set to make an announcement this afternoon. He will be joined by Health Minister Christine Elliott and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the province will steer away from the colour-coded reopening framework used in the past. Solicitor General Sylvia Jones has also hinted that the new plan could involve a "sector by sector" strategy which would allow different kinds of businesses to gradually reopen.
Officials have not announced an exact date for reopening the economy at this time, but CTV Toronto is reporting that the province is currently looking at a rough timeline of June or early July.
Premier Ford's press conference is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. today. The province is also set to release the latest modelling numbers during another press conference at 1:00 p.m. We will be following this story closely and will provide more information as it becomes available.
