Oxford County will be doing construction on Potters Road for the next two weeks.
Oxford Road 37 or Potters Road will be closed for the next two weeks starting on Tuesday.
Repairs are being made to restore the road and the embankment which has suffered some severe erosion. Director of Public Works Robert Walton says the work is being done to avoid future settlement on the road, which could lead to an emergency condition and an unplanned road closure.
"What we are trying to avoid here is entering into an emergency situation, where we had to close the road and do work at a time of the year where it is really not feasible to do paving. The plan is to get that road done and have that road open to normal traffic as soon as possible, if we let it go and something happened over the winter, you could be a in a position where you had an emergency closure and you weren't able to bring the road back to the condition we would want it to be."
The road will be closed between Oxford 13 and West Town Line during the construction. Heart FM will let you know when the road does re-open.
"We appreciate everyone’s patience during these road closures as work proceeds to repair the road and stabilize the embankment. Over the next two weeks, it is important for drivers to heed the road closed signs for their own safety, and the safety of construction crews working on the repairs."
