Police briefs from the weekend: Includes stolen car, escape from police and impaired driving
Woodstock Police had a busy weekend with a number of calls for service in the Friendly City.
A young man on a motorcycle was able to get away from police after cops called off the pursuit in the interest of public safety. Police tried to pull over the bike on Friday around 7:30 p.m in Woodstock. The motorcycle did not have a license plate and the driver was not wearing a helmet. When police tried to pull over the man, he refused and managed to escape as police called off the chase in the interest of public safety. Woodstock Police are looking for a white man between the ages of 18-25 with a medium build, dirty blonde medium hair length, wearing a red t-shirt with a logo on the front, blue work pants, brown work boots and a brown toque. The motorcycle was a white adult frame off road vehicle.
Woodstock Police are investigating after a break and enter at a business on Nellis Street. A tool was used to pry open the rear door of the business and several cars on the property were rummaged through. A 2005 Toyota Avalon was stolen and has since been recovered in the Waterloos area. The damage to the business is $500 and it is not known how much was taken from the other vehicles.
On Friday police charged two people with impaired driving. One of the incidents happened after police pulled over a Jeep on Highway 2 on Friday night around 11:30 pm where the driver failed a roadside breath test. Then on Saturday another man was charged with impaired driving after getting pulled over on Sloane Street. Police say the red Ford was driving erratically. After they pulled over the man police charged him with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
