WOODSTOCK - It was a busy weekend for Woodstock Police who responded to 138 calls, including one where they had to break up a knife fight.
Police were called to the downtown area on Saturday morning around 2:30 am after getting reports of a man threatening another man with a knife. When police arrived they arrested both suspects and found a knife on the ground in the area. A 38 year old man from Bright was charged with causing a disturbance by fighting, weapons dangerous and Possession of Cocaine. A 33 year old man from Woodstock was also charged with causing a disturbance by fighting and weapons dangerous.
On Friday morning police were called to a business on Ingersoll road after getting word someone deliberately placed dog feces on the front steps of the business. The suspect was caught on video performing the disgusting act of Mischief and police are still investigating.
Another strange case happened on Saturday morning just after midnight where police were called to Bay St after getting word of a 36 year old man standing in the middle of the street swearing and flailing his arms in the air. Police determined the man was drunk and was on probation. He was charged for breaching the conditions of his probation.
Sometime overnight from Friday, January 15, 2016 to Saturday, January 16, 2016 unknown suspects broke into a business on Norwich Avenue. The suspects cut the phone lines entered the business and stole a cash register and alcohol.
On Sunday, January 17, 2016 after midnight a 39 year old male was intoxicated and walked into a business on Norwich Ave. The male was not wearing any shoes. The male passed out on a couch that was located at the front of the business. The male was arrested for his safety and held in cells until he was sober. He was charged under the liquor licence act.
On Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Police were called to the Beer Store on Beale St. for a male stealing items from the back of a truck that was at the loading dock. Police engaged in a foot pursuit with the male as he ran from the area. A 27 year old Woodstock man was arrested and charged with theft. He will appear in court on February 2, 2016.
