The Number 7 seed Woodstock Navy Vets will face off with New Hamburg in the first round of the PJHL Doherty Division Playoffs.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Navy Vets will face New Hamburg in the first round of the PJHL Doherty Division Playoffs.
The Vets finished the season in 7th place and will take on the number 2 seed Firebirds. Head Coach Darren Young says they are hoping to use their underdog status to their advantage.
"If we play our game, play with desperation and if we clean up some of our mistakes that we kept making in the season that cost us every night, you know 3 or 4 mistakes that end up in the back of our net, if we can clean up those mistakes, I think we have a really good chance."
Young thinks they can match up pretty well with the higher seed Firebirds.
"I think we stack up well, we made a bunch of trades that will help us match up well with them, that being said I have a ton of respect for the Firebirds, they are very good team, a really good skating team and they create a ton of scoring chances off the rush."
Game 1 is on Friday night in New Hamburg with game 2 on Saturday night in Woodstock at 7:45.
