It was a fairly light weekend schedule for local teams in the PJHL.
PJHL - Only one of Oxford County's Junior C hockey teams hit the ice more than once over the weekend.
The Norwich Merchants beat the Hespeler Shamrocks 2-1 in overtime on Friday, but they did suffer a 6-2 loss to the New Hamburg Firebirds on Saturday.
The Woodstock Navy Vets absolutely crushed the New Hamburg Firebirds on Friday with a final score of 6-2 at Southwood Arena. Owen Ireton and Cooper Vickerman both scored twice, while Charley Barnes and Liam Gorman scored the other goals for Woodstock. Tyler Bouck made 26 saves for the Navy Vets.
The Tavistock Braves suffered a 5-3 loss to the Wellesley Applejacks on Friday.
The Applejacks sit on top of the Doherty Division standings with 30 points. They're followed by the Navy Vets with 28 points, the Braves with 25 points, the Firebirds with 24 points, and the Merchants and Shamrocks with 20 points each. The Dorchester Dolphins are in sixth place with 16 points, only one ahead of the last place Paris Titans with 15 points.
Over in the Yeck Division, the Thamesford Trojans fell to the Petrolia Flyers 5-3 on Friday. This came after the Trojans suffered a 5-3 loss to the North Middlesex Stars on Thursday.
The Trojans are currently tied with the Exeter Hawks for third place in the Division standings with 23 points each. They're behind the Port Stanley Sailors with 24 points and the Stars with 26 points.
