The Canadian Cancer Society is hoping you can spare some change for their Pigs of Hope Campaign.
WOODSTOCK - Your Spare Change can provide hope to someone fighting cancer.
The Canadian Cancer Society have launched the Pigs of Hope Campaign. Everyone is invited to adopt a cancer society piggy bank for your home or office.
Manager Janis Cunningham tells Heart FM the idea is to collect your spare change and the money will be used for the Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope transportation program.
"It costs an average of $50 to drive a person to their cancer related appointment, so we ask that you adopt the pigs, whether you want to adopt it for 1 trip or 4 trips, it would be $50 per trip. We also provide a pledge form so if somebody is going to make a donation of $20 or more, you can also get a tax receipt for that."
Last year in Oxford County, 39 drivers travelled 70,295 km driving more than 102 neighbours to 1,222 cancer-related appointments.
Piggy Banks can be picked up on Wednesday, November 30th at the Community Office on 65 Springbank Ave North, Woodstock, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you can’t make it but would like to adopt a piggy bank, please call our adoption hotline at 519-537-5592 or 1-877-577-7797. If you would like to help but can't adopt a piggy bank you can do so here.
