Norfolk OPP are reminding drivers to pay attention while on the roads.
NORFOLK COUNTY - Norfolk OPP are reminding drivers to be aware at all times on the road.
OPP are encouraging people of all ages to take a firm stand against distracted driving.
Inspector and Detachment Commander Joseph Varga says there are three kinds of distracted driving.
"There's three main types of distracted driving. Visual, keep your eyes on the road. Manual, taking your hands off the wheel so keep your hands off the wheel and cognitive, taking your mind off what you're doing."
Varga says the driver is to be responsible at all times.
"I just want to remind everyone that every driver has a responsibility to direct their entire attention to driving safely and that distracted driving remains a serious road safety issue. And the OPP is encouraging people of all ages, especially passengers, to take a firm stand against those who endanger the lives of others by using their cell phone or engaging in any other forms of distracted driving behind the wheel."
There have been over 13,000 charges and 55 deaths related to distracted driving this year.
