***The following report contains some graphic material and may be disturbing for some readers.*** A world-renowned Pathologist is testifying about his findings in examining the remains of 8-year-old Tori Stafford today. He's testifying in the trial of Michael Rafferty, who is charged with first degree murder, kidnapping and sexual assault causing bodily harm in the girl's death in 2008. Dr. Michael Pollanen, Ontario's chief forensic pathologist, told the jury and courtroom, through disturbing photos, that Tori's remains were significantly decomposed by the time she was found in July of 2009. Heart FM's Blair Wilson says the testimony is not positive for the Crown's case. "Dr. Pollanan also testified that he was able to examine Tori's lower-body and genital area. But the decomposition of the remains could not be accurately examined or sampled for any abnormalities." However, other forensic specialists will be testifying this week on their findings. The garbage bags Tori was found in, along with items found in the bags, including Tori's hooded shirt, butterfly earrings, hair barrette, and two water bottle caps were also submitted as evidence today. Keep tuned to Heart FM for more details on today's testimony. Also visit our Michael Rafferty Trial page for extended coverage.
