Downtown Woodstock could become more colourful thanks to a proposal by the BIA.
WOODSTOCK - A proposal by the Woodstock BIA will see a more artful downtown.
With many intersections having no indicators for drivers, they and members of the community noticed drivers not paying attention to those crossing.
The BIA proposed to City Council for the addition of painted crosswalks to help grab the attention of drivers.
Katherine deBoer, Chairperson for the BIA explains the reasoning behind the proposal.
"Well it came about with going on a tour for Central Public School and the safety concerns they had for their students getting to school because it's a downtown school and I went along because whatever challenges they have, our customers and businesses downtown would have the same things."
She explained that the plans is in early development, but shared their current plans.
"We get our artists, get some concept drawings, maybe even make a contest out of that, you know pick your favourite and then we would go to different industries, companies or businesses in town to ask if they would sponsor that particular crosswalk."
