Almost 10% more voters in this year's election then the last.
OXFORD COUNTY - Voter turnout was up in Oxford this year.
About 60.2 percent of local adults cast their ballot on Thursday.
Jessica Pellerin, a Bilingual Communications Officer with Elections Ontario, says this is a significant increase when compared to the last provincial election.
"In 2014 it was about 52 percent; 51.9 percent to be exact so it has increased quite a bit."
The voter turn-out province wide was 58 percent; another increase when compared to the 52.1 percent reported in the last election.
Pellerin says they can't determine a cause for the voter boost.
"It's a personal decision so in terms of why this time around the voter turnout was higher, we really can't answer that question but we're certainly glad to see it."
The local results were as follows;
MPP Ernie Hardeman - Progressive Conservative Party - 29,152 votes
Tara King - Ontario New Democratic Party - 15,917 votes
James Howard - Ontario Liberal Party - 3,619 votes
Albert De Jong - Green Party of Ontario - 2,247 votes
Robert Van Ryswyck - Ontario Party - 447 votes
Chris Swift - Ontario Libertarian Party - 370 votes
Dave Sikal - Independent - 335 votes
Tim Hodges - Freedom Party of Ontario - 216 votes
