About 40-50 people are expected to compete in at the Veldale Farms starting at 9:30 a.m. and running until 1:30. Once the plowing is done they will have a beef on a bun lunch and then get started with the Queen of the Farrow competition. Treasurer of the Oxford County Plowing Association Donna Wilson tells Heart FM some of the responsibilities for the Queen.
"They have to do an interview, and a speech and they have to do some plowing, assisted by coaches of course and then they have to do it again at the International Plowing match in Cornwall in late September, they are also expected to attend all of the local parades in the community, on Victoria Day, and the different Santa Claus parades in Oxford County."
They are still looking for more Queen contestants this year. Admission is Free to the plowing is free and if you want a beef on the bun lunch sponsored by Buzzy's Catering you have to call ahead for tickets at 519-462-2430 or 519-469-3338. Veldale Farms is located at 525369 Oxford Centre Road.
