The 84 room addition to Oxford Gardens has taken shape. The roof is closed in and the framework is nearly finished. It will have a 9-hole putting green, movie theatre and two cafes inside. Oxford Gardens Executive Director Nelia Hunt says future residents can expect the lifestyle they enjoy in their own homes. "We're one big family here. The current residents are very embracive and welcoming to new people that join us. So they can expect a lot of independence and a lot of choices and opportunities," said Hunt. Over 200 residents will live in the total 185 units once the addition is complete. In just a few months, President of the retirement home Bill Van Haeren says it'll be ready to open. "The completion date is scheduled for August 15th and the move date for residents is September 1st and we'd be scheduling people in so many per week," said Van Haeren. Around 25 rooms are already booked and they've started a waiting list. The final price tag, finished and furnished, hovers around $16 million.
