Oxford County will only make proclamations and fly flags that align with its strategic goals and services.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council has made some changes.
At their last meeting, which took place on Wednesday, August 9th, the Proclamations and Flag Protocol Policies saw some changes.
The change is, the decision will not be just on the Warden anymore. Warden Marcus Ryan says it was his idea.
"So I suggested to staff and council that we should probably tidy it up a little bit, and say we will raise flags that align with Oxford County's strategic goals and services we deliver."
Ryan speaks to some of the flags that Oxford County will be happy to have flown.
"The Pride flag that Oxford County was very happy to raise in June of this year, will absolutely be raised in June of next year per this policy because it absolutely aligns with Oxford's strategic goals that everybody should be included and participate in our community. So therefore this flag would go up."
Warden Ryan says, that if someone comes to the County to ask for a flag to be flown that does not align with their goals, it will not even get to the Warden's desk.
