United Way Oxford has announced that it has raised over $1.2-million during their latest campaign, set to be used towards various local organizations in the community.
OXFORD COUNTY - United Way Oxford has officially unveiled it's fundraising total from it's latest campaign.
During the community celebration at FORE! Oxford last night, United Way announced that it was able to raise $1,218,337 for local organizations in our community.
Resource Development Manager, Amanda Kreiger, says that number is a spectacular accomplishment for the community.
"It just goes to show, when people come together, people that can give; give. People who want to volunteer; volunteer. We had our workplace champions that really stepped up and did some fun special events to help get those numbers up. If people couldn't give off their payroll, there was still ways they could contribute. It just shows when people come together, what can happen."
The total number of over $1.2-million is up over $80-thousand from last year, with Kreiger saying United Way was unsure of how this year's campaign would turn out.
"It was a year that, when it started, we weren't sure how it was going to look. We know that the cost of living is up, we know that people who were barely getting by before are really struggling now. We know that needs are increasing and funding needs are higher than before. The fact that we were able to come in at a number where we can meet those needs still is amazing."
Kreiger says United Way is already working on future campaigns and fundraisers, looking to bring a business focus on top of their already existing set of campaigns.
