The Woodstock Art Gallery is getting ready to introduce new exhibits, just in time for the Family Day long weekend.
WOODSTOCK - A new exhibit from at the Woodstock Art Gallery will feature a local artist, who was born in Norwich but settled down in Woodstock.
Ross Butler was self taught and active from the 1920's to the 1970's.
Collections and Curatorial Assistant Samantha Purvis-Johnston says he was not only known for his livestock paintings, but also his one of a kind sculptures at the CNE and Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
"He was known for his butter sculptures, he would make life size sculptures of various Canadian icons made completely out of butter."
The Layer by Layer exhibition will examine ethereal white layered paintings by Mary Donlan of St Thomas.
Lastly, Uncertain Bearings will focus on artwork that takes a close look at direction, place and distance and inspires you look at life from a new perspective.
Purvis-Johnston hopes the new displays will bring in a new crowd on Saturday February 17th.
"We're trying to open up the doors to a whole new audience. Hopefully we get people from the agricultural community who may never have stepped inside the Woodstock Art Gallery. It's always exciting to have new visitors."
The opening will have free admission.
