Woodstock Optimist Club hosting fundraiser for local family at Giant Tiger
The Woodstock Optimist Club is rallying to help a local family this holiday season.
A fundraiser is being held on Saturday to support an anonymous family who have been hit with a case of childhood cancer.
The family is in need of some financial support to undergo some counselling.
Woodstock Optimist Club President Sarah Ellis says the family is going through a trying time. "There's a lot to go through for them in trying to get passed it and trying to get back to normal. They're just asking for funds to help with counselling towards that."
To that end, Ellis explains what will be happening at Giant Tiger in Woodstock on Saturday. "Free pictures with Santa and we'll have gift wrapping available and we are asking just for donations. As there will be a BBQ where we'll have hot dogs, hot chocolate and soft drinks."
Giant Tiger Assistant Manager Dan Vanier hopes the opportunity to see Santa will draw a crowd. "There's no Santa in Woodstock in a Mall. We do have the Santa on Dundas, which is great, but having one in a store is unique. We'll have our Friendly the Tiger there, we'll do pictures...kids love Santa, kids love the Tiger, we just thought it was great."
The event runs from 11-4 Saturday.
