A 24 year old man and a 24 year old woman have both been charged after Norfolk OPP pulled over a stolen vehicle on Highway 24.
WINDHAM - Norfolk OPP have charged two people after they pulled over a vehicle on Highway 24 in Windham.
Officers stopped the vehicle Tuesday morning, after their Automatic License Plate Recognition system went off.
Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen in Dryden.
Police have charged 24 year old Christian James Andrew Johnston with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of break in instruments, driving while under suspension, failing to comply with recognizance and two counts of failing to comply with probation.
OPP also charged 24 year old Beverly Lynn Napish with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with undertaking.
Inspector Joseph Varga says their ALPR vehicle is a great tool for their officers.
"Our ALPR vehicle is definitely making it more difficult for suspended drivers, drivers of stolen vehicles and other vehicles with plates in poor standing to drive undetected on Norfolk County roadways. This technology is a great asset, which means that the OPP will be able to detect thousands more license plates in poor standing every day over a broader geographic range in Ontario."
