OPP in the surrounding area have had a busy start to the week with a structure fire, a B&E, and a missing pig.
ELGIN - Elgin OPP and the Malahide Volunteer Fire Department are looking for a cause after a structure fire on Ashton Street in Springfield.
The call came in on Monday morning around 10 a.m. but thankfully no one was in the home at the time. The total cost of damage is still being calculated, and nothing suspicious has turned up so far.
NORFOLK - The Norfolk OPP are investigating a break and enter in Windham.
Police believe a home on Windham Centre Road was broken into sometime between Friday, January 27th and Tuesday, January 31. An older electric coil top stove was taken from the property.
Police are also looking into an incident in Delhi.
An empty appliance box full of cardboard was dumped at Arnold Sayeau Drive on Monday morning around 8:47 a.m. Surveillance footage picked up a Dodge Ram pickup truck leaving the area. Police are now trying to identify the driver.
Anyone with information about either event is asked to call the Norfolk OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS)
BRANT - Usually when the words 'police' and 'pig' are included in the same sentence it's not for a good reason, but the Brant OPP are the exception.
After being enlisted to help in the search for a pot bellied pig on Monday morning around 11:45 a.m. they were able to find three month old Smokey wandering around the twelfth concession. After a short foot chase they were able to safely return the pet to his family.
