A joint effort between Oxford OPP and Woodstock Police will be hitting the streets to make driving safer
OXFORD COUNTY - Two local police services are unifying for Operation Zero.
Woodstock Police and Oxford OPP will have a blitz over the next two days to make the roads safer.
OPP Constable Stacey Culbert says it's a team effort.
"Right now there is no 'us and them' mentality. This is just police forces coming together jointly to do some joint enforcement within the county limits."
She says it's called Operation Zero for a reason.
"We call it Operation Zero because no loss of life or personal injury is our goal. So we don't want to see anything as far as percentages going down, as far as traffic enforcement goes we want to see zeros. We want to see zeroes across the board."
They will have blitzes each quarter of the year. This quarter's focus is on seatbelts, speed and distracted driving.
The idea comes from a program in Sweden called "Vision Zero."
