Garbage was once again discussed at the Ingersoll Town Council meeting
INGERSOLL - The Oxford People Against Landfills were at the Ingersoll Town Council Meeting once again.
They did a presentation to the Town about the importance of confronting the higher ups in Toronto about them sending their trash to the proposed Walker Environmental Group Landfill. OPAL Chair Bryan Smith tells Heart FM they actually wanted to thank council for the work they have done so far.
"We do have reasons to thank this council who have been engaged fully for four years in the process about the dump in terms of trying to get it stopped and they remain engaged in that and we have seen from what they talked about today in advance of our presentation that they are and we saw their commitment that this sustainable community is not imposed on by the City of Toronto who have not solved their own trash problem."
Smith did bring council a draft resolution that basically states Oxford County should not be imposed upon by other communities and deal with outside garbage.
"We also brought them the resolution that was passed on by the Tillsonburg council, much in the same vain who feel very strongly that Oxford County should not be imposed on by other municipalities who have not done what this County does in terms of waste recycling, waste avoidance and really our message to Toronto is if you clean up your trash somewhat, we wouldn't have to do it for your."
The presentation was received as information.
