Springfield Elementary School is currently sitting in third place in the Ontario Schools Battery Recycling Challenge
SPRINGFIELD - A lucky student from Springfield Elementary will be presented with a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge Tomorrow.
The student is the winner of the Ontario Schools Battery Recycling Challenge. Sarah Lacharity of Raw Materials Company will be at the school tomorrow to hand out the award and explains why they are encouraging kids to recycle their old batteries.
"It's important to recycle your batteries, number one is you are preserving our natural resources by reducing the need to mine and refine the materials from ore, your also saving energy and reducing pollution."
Springfield Elementary School is currently in 3rd place in the Ontario Schools Battery Recycling Challenge. The challenge asks kids to become an official Battery Boss by completing all 5 Battery Recycling Missions. Lacharity explains why her company started this challenge.
"We started the Ontario battery recycling challenge to educate children and their families about the importance of battery recycling and how to properly handle and prepare batteries for recycling."
