Premier Kathleen Wynne says keeping liquor out of the hands of minors is among her chief concerns when considering changing the way alcohol is sold in Ontario.
ONTARIO - Ontario will move "as quickly as possible" to make changes to alcohol sales once the Liberal government decides on a course of action, according to Premier Kathleen Wynne.
The panel looking at assets such as the Ontario Liquor Board, Hydro One, and Ontario Power Generation have not yet made their recommendations, but Premier Wynne says she's eager to start making changes.
Allowing the sale of wine and beer at grocery stores is currently being considered, but Wynne says they are taking every precaution to make sure alcohol doesn't end up in the wrong hands. She says the rules governing distribution of alcohol will not be loosened to the point that would put anyone at risk...especially young people. "We're not loosening the alcohol distribution system to the point where those protections are not going to be in place."
