Police continue to hammer home the message against distracted driving. 35 total charges were laid in Oxford County in an OPP blitz last week against drivers not paying attention to the road. 31 distracted driving charges were laid, along with 4 careless driving charges that police say were distraction related. Unless you're cellphone is hands-free, police are urging drivers, to pull over to send a text or make a call. The fine for distracted driving is $155, but if the case is serious enough, it can fall under careless driving where fines escalate and demerit points are issued.
