Woodstock, Ingersoll, and Tillsonburg will be holding Coldest Night of the Year fundraisers on Saturday February 24th.
OXFORD COUNTY - We're about a month away from the Coldest Night of the Year.
The national campaign looks to raise funds for people who are experiencing hunger, hurt, and homelessness.
Three outdoor walks will be taking place in Oxford County on Saturday February 24th; one in Woodstock, one in Ingersoll and one in Tillsonburg.
Scott McKauge is the organizer of the Woodstock event which has raised over $48,600 so far, making it the 13th ranked fundraiser in the country right now. He says all of the money will be going to Operation Sharing.
"Operation Sharing actually runs quite a few programs, the Inn is definitely the biggest one where funds need to be allocated. But they have just recently opened a shelter in Tillsonburg as well, so some of these funds are going to be spread out."
He adds there's still time to sign up to participate in the outdoor walk.
"We meet on February 24th and we all walk a route together, two kilometres or five kilometres. You get some free snacks and have some good conversations, and just feel good."
You can find more information regarding the Woodstock event online here.
The Coldest Night of the Year events in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg will be raising funds for United Way Oxford. The Ingersoll fundraiser has raised over $12,180 so far, making it the 85th ranked in Canada right now. Tillsonburg is 89th, with over $10,880 raised.
