The Ingersoll Safe Cycling Committee is looking for used bikes to fix up and give away at their 3rd Annual Free Bike Booth in June.
INGERSOLL - The Ingersoll Safe Cycling Committee is asking for your old bikes.
Co-Chair for the committee Tim Lobzun says they fix up the old bikes and donate them to people in need.
"We usually get about 20-35 bikes and probably about 12 of them are good enough to find homes. They go on to different families and we fix them up a little bit first."
"Well Ingersoll is trying to get a bronze for the bicycling friendly community and this is one way we get more people into bikes," Lobzun says. "And so many people grow out of their bikes and they don't want to put them out to the curb and they would just like to pass them on to somebody else and we just give everybody an outlet to do it."
They are accepting donations to help with their family cycling day on Sunday June 5th.
"It will have something for everybody: we have a 5 km ride, 10 km ride, 20 km ride, we have a treasure hunt for the kids, and displays set up, and a BBQ and it's all free."
You can drop off your old bikes to the Ingersoll Parks and Recreation building on Ingersoll Road. After hours the bikes can be dropped off beside the building at the back gates so they do not block the driveway.
