A vehicle passed a stopped school bus in Langton Friday afternoon, right before a kid was about to cross the street.
LANGTON - The Norfolk OPP is reminding residents about the dangers and hefty fines that come with not stopping for a school bus.
Police were called to Albert Street in Langton on Friday at around 4:00 p.m. after someone passed a bus that was stopped, with it's stop arm out and red lights flashing. Luckily, no child was injured in the incident.
This is extremely dangerous and could have fatal consequences if an innocent child had been crossing at the time.
Vehicle owners need to be aware that if the driver can't be identified, the owner can be charged for the offence provided the license plate number is obtained by any witness. If convicted, the driver/owner can be fined not less than $400 up to $2,000 for a first offence and to a fine not less than $1,000 - $ 4,000 or imprisonment for a subsequent offences.
