No Retail Weed In Norwich

Norwich Township is one of 2 communities in Oxford County to not allow Cannabis stores.

NORWICH TOWNSHIP - The Township of Norwich has decided to not allow retail Cannabis stores in the area.

The deadline for municipalities to make a decision on whether or not to allow retail Cannabis stores is January, 22nd. Mayor of Norwich Township, Larry Martin.

"We had till January the 22nd of January to either opt out or if we did opt back in. But if we opted stay in and did nothing by January the 22nd then we were in for good. But as it is we can do more research and look into it and we can opt back into it at a later date."

Martin also added that people can get the legal drug online.

"Obviously there's already one retail source in Norwich with the post office being there anyway. So they can get it online and delivered to the house. When it was illegal they seemed to be able to get it so, having a retail store isn't a problem."

The township along with other municipalities in Oxford County and Ontario can opt back in at anytime if they felt the need to.
