The report on a new recreation complex in Woodstock is open to a 3-month public comment period. Council received the 165-page report last Thursday, that outlines the numerous steps towards turning the Woodall Farm property on Devonshire Ave., into a future recreation area. It would include 5-baseball diamonds to start, and possibly an outdoor swimming pool, and twin rink ice pads in future phases. But as Mayor Pat Sobeski points out, that's looking down the road. "It's a project that right now is budgeted, if it occurs, not until 2017. But you can see the amount of pre-work that has to be done. It's not just a matter of us going out there, levelling some land and putting down some bags and having a ball field". Mark Schaddenberg with the city's Recreation Advisory Committee says they appreciate the extended 90-day comment period to get into the report. "We're really looking forward to going further into the reports, it certainly talks about phase one being five ball diamonds. But certainly so many other things could be part of the project down the line". You can view the report on the city's website.
