Restaurants and pubs will now have the option to allow your dog to join you on their patios this Spring.
ONTARIO - Several new laws take effect in the Province of Ontario today.
One new law is great news for pet owners. You can now have your dog join you for a pint on a restaurant or bar patio. Restaurants can decide if they want to allow dogs in areas where low risk foods are served. You can read more about this new law online here. In Woodstock, you will be able to bring your pooch on the patio at the Upper Thames River Brewery on Bysham Park Drive. However they will not allow dogs at the Brewpub, because it is on the golf course property, which is privately owned and dogs are not allowed on that property.

Starting on January 1st Ontario has banned the promotion of vaping products in convenience stores and gas stations. You can still promote vaping in specialty stores and cannabis shops, which are only open to people aged 19 and older. The new law was designed to protect children and young people as the concerns continue to grow about the health effects of vaping.

The Ontario Government has scrapped out of country health insurance. This means you can no longer claim the $400 a day maximum coverage for inpatient emergency care if you happen to fall ill outside of the country.

The Province has also launched a five year pilot project that will allow e-scooters on Ontario roads. Previously you could only operate e-scooters on private property in Ontario. The new law takes effect on January 1st, however the e-scooters are still not allowed on roads in Woodstock and Oxford County. Each municipality in the Province now has the option to allow the e-scooters or not. So far the issue has not been brought up at any council in the County.
