An information session at Chartwell Oxford Gardens will help seniors live their best quality of life.
WOODSTOCK -Oxford County Public Health have teamed up with Chartwell Oxford Gardens in order to provide an information session for seniors.
Chartwell Community Relations Manager Kathy Deweerd explains the purpose behind this free event on Wednesday November 15th.
"To give seniors an opportunity to see if they are doing everything they can to have the best quality of life as they enjoy their retirement years."
Deweerd says they will have multiple community partners in attendance.
"We have vision testing through Vision Loss Rehabilitation, we have hearing tests, we have nutritionists and the paramedics have come onboard to help us out with helping people stay safe."'
A VON Registered Kinesiologist will also offer balance and gait testing.
In a press release, Public Health Nurse Joanne Montgomery says it's important for seniors to stay active.
"It is so important for older adults to remain active to keep our muscles and bones strong. But as we get older, our bodies can change which can increase our risk of falling. The first step to avoiding falls is to understand what causes them. This is why we are bringing together health professionals to assess your balance, vision and hearing in one location and to receive advice and referrals for a more in-depth review if needed."
You can contact Oxford County Public Health if you would like to pre-register. Call 519-539-9800 with the extension 3428 or e-mail publichealth@oxfordcounty.ca.
