A 50 percent indoor capacity limit is now in effect for most businesses and establishments in Aylmer, Bayham, Blandford-Blenheim, Malahide, Norwich, South-West Oxford, Tillsonburg and West Elgin.
SWPH - Starting today, you can only have 50 percent capacity indoors at most businesses and establishments at certain municipalities within the Southwestern Public Health Unit.
The impacted areas include Aylmer, Bayham, Blandford-Blenheim, Malahide, Norwich, South-West Oxford, Tillsonburg and West Elgin.
They were chosen because they have high rates of transmission and/or low vaccination rates.
The new capacity limits will be in place for a minimum of 6 weeks and include places like restaurants, bars, meeting and event spaces, arenas, personal care services like salons and barbershops, gyms, concert venues, theatres, churches, weddings and funerals.
Local Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock says by-law officers will be making visits.
"We did meet with our enforcement colleagues prior to issuing this letter of instruction, to inform them as to what was coming, they assured us they will be following up with any complaints that are directed towards them. Organizations may be visited if there are any concerns about those organizations."
Letters were sent to impacted businesses and facilities on Monday.
