Starting today, unvaccinated people over the age of 12 won't be able to board a plane or a train for domestic travel in Canada.
CANADA - Canada is now implementing tougher domestic travel restrictions for unvaccinated people over the age of 12.
Starting today, they will not be able to board a plane or a train in Canada. There will be some exceptions including those who have a medical exemption and those who are travelling to a remote area only accessible by plane. They would have to provide a negative COVID-19 test.
The federal government has also been dealing with the emergence of the new Omicron variant. A total of five cases have been confirmed in Canada so far, four in Ottawa and one in Quebec, and all of the patients recently travelled to Nigeria.
The Omicron variant was first discovered in South Africa. The World Health Organizations says based on early evidence, the global risk is very high and the variant could lead to case surges with severe consequences.
