There will be a number of complex issues facing the incoming Woodstock city councillors and mayor.
WOODSTOCK - With 4 new faces on Woodstock City Council including a Mayor with no council experience, Woodstock Chief Administrative Officer David Creery will be there to help them along the way.
"We'll be preparing a briefing package an orientation package for the new council that provides all of the basic information about the city, services, policies, staff and by-laws..."
Incumbent City-County Councillors Deb Tait and Sandra Talbot along with past Councillor Connie Lauder will be working with new Mayor, Trevor Birtch and Councillors Jerry Acchione, Todd Poetter and Shawn Shapton.
The city will be providing a minimum of two orientations, after that Creery said it will be, "somewhat to the discretion of council as to how much they wish to recieve in the way of orientation we would plan for two seperate meetings as a minimum if they wish more, we are certainly open to providing more."
There will be a number of complex issues coming their way. The new council has two months to become acquainted with the council agenda before their first meeting on December 11th.
Creery says coming up during the first meeting will be of course the budget. "I do not anticipate lighter agendas for the first little while, however when the new council commences unfortunately there is a long list of business that will need to be attended to."
