United Way's Novemburger campaign will be known as the Ultimate Burger Battle moving forward.
OXFORD - United Way Oxford is bringing back the Novemburger campaign, but with a new name.
The Ultimate Burger Battle will officially begin on November 1st and wrap up on November 30th this year.
Resource Development Coordinator Megan Porter explains the reason behind the name change.
"There are many United Way's that are participating who may not necessarily want to host their burger event in the month of November, so this gives a little flexibility to that. We know there are at least 14 United Way's participating this year."
For those of you not familiar with the campaign, Porter explains how it works.
"Restaurants across Oxford County will create a unique burger creation, their ultimate burger! The burgers will compete across the month to become either the Ultimate Burger, a People's Choice Burger, or Most Ultimate Burgers sold."
The participating restaurants will offer their ultimate burger on their menu throughout the month of November, with $2 from every burger sold going to United Way. Members of the public will be able to vote for their favourite burgers online, and a selected panel of ambassadors will determine who has the Ultimate Burger at the end of the month.
Eleven restaurants participated in the campaign last year and raised a total of $15,000.
Porter would like to have up to 20 restaurants participating this year, and the following locations were officially registered as of yesterday morning:
- Boston Pizza (Woodstock)
- Brickhouse Brewpub (Woodstock)
- Charles Dickens Pub (Woodstock)
- The Pub At Norwich Ave (Woodstock)
- Finkle Street Tap and Grill (Woodstock)
- Louie's Pizza and Pasta (Ingersoll)
- The Mill (Tillsonburg)
- Chrissy's Catering (Tillsonburg)
- Boston Pizza (Tillsonburg)
- The Copper Mug (Tillsonburg)
Porter would love to see some restaurants from some of the smaller communities in Oxford County register this year. Those who are interested can reach out to Porter by sending an e-mail to megan@unitedwayoxford.ca.
Megan Porter stopped by the Heart FM Studio with Angela Smith from Sierra Construction, the presenting sponsor of the campaign, on Tuesday August 19th. You can listen to the full interview below:
