City Council has put the cap back on discussions about a new Beer Store in Woodstock. Plans came forward to council last night from a developer, looking to build a new Beer Store location at Dundas and Clarke. City Councillor Sandra Talbot moved to defer a decision for another two weeks. She hopes this will buy the company some time to fix several planning issues. "It's a brown field site, it would be great to have it developed. Rather than just turn it down, the applicant already informed us they will not take it to the OMB, so rather than accept it with all the variances required, see if there's an opportunity to make it better. It might not be perfect, but if we could make it better, that's what we'd like to do." The proposal calls for a drive-thru beer store, which would replace the current store at Dundas and Springbank. The Beer Store has a drive-thru store on Wharncliffe Road in London that's been open since 2004.
