The Woodstock Navy Vets have bolstered their roster with trades at the deadline as they get set for the playoffs.
WOODSTOCK - The Navy Vets made 3 deals at the trade deadline to position themselves for what they hope will be a long playoff run.
The Vets acquired Embro native forward Jared Prekup from Delhi for forward Noah Burns. Prekup had played for the Woodstock Midgets in the past past before moving on to Delhi where he became their third leading scorer.
General Manager Bill Wallace tells Heart FM they are really excited about this pickup.
"We really liked the way he played and we just didn't have room for him and he found a home in Delhi where he continued to improve and develop his skill. I think he was their third leading scorer and so when the opportunity came up this year as we were trying to get a little bit more strength, size and a little maturity up front so we went out and acquired him through a trade."
Wallace says they also picked up Woodstock native Jared Lindsay from Lambton Shores of the GOJHL. Lindsay also played with the Navy Vets in the past before moving up to Junior B and they are hoping he can help put the puck in the net for the Navy Vets.
"Where he is going to fit in? that will be up to him and the coaches but one of the things we seem to be struggling with right now is scoring goals and I am hoping Jared just steps right up and he becomes that guy to contribute to our top 3 or 4 goal scorers."
The Navy Vets also acquired goalie Kyle Morning from St.Marys of the GOJHL. Woodstock needed another goalie after a trade late last year and Morning will try to take some time away from Mike Harrison as the club wanted to run with two goalies in the crucial games leading up to the post season.
