The Woodstock Navy Vets will have a new face behind the bench this season.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Navy Vets have a new head coach for the upcoming 2016-2017 season.
They have hired Andrew Wilson to take over the top job behind the bench. Wilson is a former player in the OHL with the Kingston Frontenacs and he played Junior B in St. Mary's and London. He has a 107-30-9 record as the head coach of the London Jr. Knights.
President of the Navy Vets Devon Young says they really feel like they have got the right man for the job.
"Well he is another young guy which was very important for us moving forward with this process, we saw the benefits of having a young coach in the last couple of years with Adam and we wanted to stick with that, the passion the drive, that we see out of young coaches and we found that we were getting good responses from our players so that was huge."
Young says they still have some more announcements to make and Wilson will have the chance to pick his own staff. Wilson has already brought in at least one new assistant and the rest of the coaching staff will be announced all at once. Young says they think Wilson is the right choice to keep this team moving forward.
"The Woodstock Navy Vets can’t wait to continue upon our road to become a pillar of excellence within the Woodstock and Junior Hockey communities."
Heart FM has reached out to Wilson will have a feature story with him in the near future.
