Today is Naturalization Day for Woodstock's Burgess Park and the UTRCA is looking for volunteers.
WOODSTOCK - The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, City of Woodstock, World Wildlife Fund Canada, and TD Tree Days are pleased to invite anyone to the Burgess Park for Naturalization Day today.
Brad Hertner, Community Partnership Specialist for the UTRCA says say want to make the area a better place for all forms of plants and wildlife.
"We are working together to engage people in conservation action to restore nature in our own community at Burgess Park, also to help wildlife thrive. We are pleased to host this day in collaboration with our partners, and to host a discussion over lunch on how to motivate more Canadians to get involved with nature stewardship."
Volunteers will be able to able to create turtle nests, a snake hibernaculum and build bird boxes. They will also be able to plant trees and wetland plants.
It's an opportunity to learn more about our invasive species, local trails, reptiles and amphibians.
Things will get started at 9:30 a.m. and wrap up at 1 p.m.
