Mary Ann Silverthorn was re-elected on Saturday as President of the Canadian Association of Police Governance Board.
WOODSTOCK - A well known woman from Oxfrod County has been re-elected as President of a national board.
Mary Ann Silverthorn was re-elected on Saturday as President of the Canadian Association of Police Governance Board.
Inspector of Operations for the Woodstock Police, Paul Hess explains what the national board is.
"So the Canadian Association of Police Governance is a mechanism. It provides a national voice for the members of other police services boards and commissions across the country. It's an ability for them to interact with the federal government on issues of national importance."
Hess says this is great news for Silverthorn and the community.
"It certainly speaks to the trust and confidence she's earned as a leader at the national level and certainly at the local level. It just means that our local issues will have the ability to be addressed at the national level."
Silverthorn has spent 12 years on the Woodstock Police Services Board and is currently their chair.
The annual CAPG conference was held in Winnipeg this year.
