The Oxford People Against Landfills is hosting a benefit concert at the Woodstock Raceway featuring The Mudmen.
WOODSTOCK - The Oxford People Against Landfills is hosting a benefit concert at the Woodstock Raceway.
They have the Celtic rock band Mudmen will be playing at the Woodstock Raceway on Friday night for $10. All of the proceeds will go towards OPAL's battle against the proposed Carmeuse/Walker dump. OPAL member Howard DeJong tells Heart FM most of their concerns surrounding the landfill is the safety of our water supply. " There are not guarantees, that landfill liners will not leak, it may not happen now, it may not happen now, it may not happen in 10 years, but eventually it will leak and every citizen of Oxford County will end up having to pay for the replacement of that water supply while a company ends up walking away with the profits today."
The concert is happening as part of the Renainassance Festival who has donated the use of the facilities to OPAL. DeJong says it's going to be a great time and a great price to see an outdoor live concert and the event will be licensed and they will have a big tent in place in case it rains. Doors open at 7:30 p.m and the concert will last until after midnight.
