Oxford's MP says there won't be escalating police and court costs stemming from the new federal crime bill. Dave MacKenzie spoke with Heart FM today, following Monday's statement from the Ontario Corrections Minister, claiming Ontario will have to build a new $900-million dollar jail to house all the new criminals that would be put behind bars. "The bill does not create new criminals. The irony of this is Ontario has announced they're closing three jails. So here they are in the midst of closing jails and they're complaining that they have to build new jails." Jails in Owen Sound, Walkerton and Sarnia are being closed by the governing Liberals.
