MP Dave MacKenzie Will Run Again

Heart FM spoke with MP Dave MacKenzie about the upcoming election and what he believes the key issues will be.

Shaking hands and baby kissing season is almost here as we get set for a Federal Election on October 19th.

Recently Heart FM spoke with the two candidates who have announced they will be running for the Oxford County seat. Local MP Dave McKenzie is running for the Conservatives again and has been in power since 2004. He says the biggest issues in the upcoming election will be jobs and the economy and his party is best suited to lead us out of the recession. "I think obviously the strength of our leader Stephen Harper, how he has been able to lead the country through this very difficult economic time - when we compare ourselves to the rest of the world, some are coming out now from the recession but we never got to the deep deep part like some others did, and I'm just so certain that our leader is the leader to lead the country." 

McKenzie says his party is also putting a focus on families, making sure young families have some extra money in their pockets, and keeping taxes low. He adds he is looking forward to coming home from Ottawa for the summer and will be attending events like he always does. McKenzie does plan on doing some door knocking closer to the election date. 

Heart FM will also be talking with NDP candidate Zoey Kuchsner. The Liberals and the Green party have not elected a candidate for Oxford County at this time. 

The first National Debate will take place on August 6th and will feature the four leaders from the major political parties in Canada. Stephen Harper for the Conservatives, Justin Trudeau for the Liberals, Tom Mulcair for the NDP and Elizabeth May with the Green party.
