The OPP are thanking the public for tipping them off about a drunk driver near Stratford.
Perth OPP are thanking a resident who called in a suspect drunk driver near Stratford.
Police were called to Perth Road 119 at 3 a.m on Saturday morning after a Mazda was reported to be driving erratically on the road. Police eventually caught up with the car driving through Brunner. The driver was arrested and taken to the Sebringville OPP detachment where he failed two breath tests according to police.
As a result a 42 year man from the Township of Perth East was charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his motor vehicle has been impounded for a period of seven days.
"With all the messaging and examples of how unacceptable, dangerous, and criminal impaired driving is, I find it difficult to understand that drivers would still get behind the wheel when they have been drinking alcohol. The Perth County OPP will continue their patrols and regular RIDE programs to stop these drivers and maintain safe roadways in our communities." Inspector Steve Porter, Perth County OPP Detachment Commander.
The public is encouraged to report impaired and erratic drivers. Calls can be made to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
