Norfolk OPP received a call from a elderly resident reporting that they've been scammed.
NORFOLK COUNTY - Norfolk County OPP are warning the public that scammers are calling claiming that you've won a jackpot.
They put out this warning because just on Tuesday, November 6,2018 Norfolk OPP received a call from a elderly homeowner stating that they'd gotten seven calls claiming that the resident won a million dollar prize and a new car.
Police visited the property as the homeowner was concerned the the scammer would show up at their front door, fortunately the elderly resident didn't fall victim to the caller. Norfolk OPP are warning the public that if you receive a call similar to this, hang up as this is the best thing to do.
Police stress that you shouldn't become a statistic. The fraud business is worth millions of dollars and won't stop until people refuse to give them their information.
